The Warped Sarto
SARTO was Kyle’s beloved Cane Corso, who passed away after a lengthy battle with Idiopathic Epilepsy. He was a staple at Warped HQ and beloved not only by Kyle and his family, but everyone at Warped. This cigar is dedicated to him. Big, bold, and strong. Expect notes of chocolate, black pepper, leather, oak, and cream.

First Third: The Sarto is listed as the Strongest of the Warped catalog so I excited to light this one up. At the initial light I’m getting hit with earthiness. Great retrohale with baker spice and earthiness. The Fig is very flavor forward throughout the first third as the flavors develop. The Sarto is giving a very complex range of flavors, one draw you get earthiness with a little lemon, the next your getting dark chocolate that lingers but fig would be the most pronounced flavor I’m getting the whole first third. Very interesting and intriguing smoke.
Second Third: As I’m smoking into the second third all of the flavors are still developing. Once I think I’ve figured out all of the flavor profiles in the Sarto something else pops up. The order in which the flavors hit my palate goes Fig/Lemongrass/and then Dark Chocolate, which sounds like an odd combination but is actually really nice. The strength level is nice but won’t put you down for the count at the end of the night. It’s strong for a Warped cigar but if you have had other Warped offerings like the La Colmena or the Isla De Cocodrillo are both great and flavorful but are on the lower end of the strength scale so even a slight bump in the strength of this Sarto makes a difference.
Final thoughts: The Sarto from Warped is a great smoke if you’re looking for complexity of flavor, transitions, and strength. Construction and burn were flawless and was a long smoke for me when I normally smoke quick. Great choice to sit and relax while enjoying a great option.
Pairing Section:
From the Whiskey Cabinet: This is a rollercoaster of flavors and transitions multiple times throughout the smoke. To make sure you don’t overpower this cigar or mute any of the flavor profile id pull out a nice Irish/Japanese whiskey. Go with some Hibiki Harmony or the Tullamore Dew.
From the Fridge: Pull out an ice cold Sprite, the lemon lime paired with the lemon and lemongrass notes on this one would pair nicely. Even a sweet tea would pair nicely.
Abbina Pairing: The Warped Sarto needs a refreshing pick that won’t dull down the flavors and want you to continue on the flavor progressions, so Tower 44 would be perfect. With the citrus and refreshing qualities, that would be the perfect Abbina pairing.
