The Walking Stick Lancero by Definition Cigars
The Walking Stick Lancero by Definition Cigars
Factory of Production: Fabrica de Tabacalera
Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Maduro
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Body: Leather, Barnyard
Foot: Closed Foot
Cold Draw: Graham Cracker , Honey, Baking Spice
First Third: Initial light up starts with heavy black pepper, dark brown honey wheat bread (like the bread at Outback) , which Ecuadorian Maduro Wrappers are known for. Can definitely tell that this is the fullest blend of the line up offered by Definition. Retrohale hits you with the spice on the back end. Construction and draw are both perfect with great smoke output. Some lanceros have burn unevenly or have had draw issues for me in the past, but the Walking Stick is performing flawlessly.
Second Third: The baking spice from the retrohale really stays in your sinus cavity, and lingers on the tip of your tongue, which I enjoy. Starting to get a grassy earthy note , but still enjoying what the Walking Stick is offering.
Final Third: The fullness and strength of the Walking stick is consistent. Plenty of transitions to keep you on your toes. This is a good mid-day or late night smoke.
Final thoughts: The Definition Walking Stick is a full bodied cigar that starts strong from the initial light up and transitions throughout to give you a different flavor experience and gets stronger as you smoke. I’d definitely revisit this one anytime I’m in the mood for a rye pick. Stronger and more full bodied compared to the rest of the Definition line up when compared to the Noir Cameroon or the Equalizer Maduro.
Pairing Section:
From the Whiskey Cabinet: The Walking Stick would be perfect to pair with a Rye With all of the brown bread baker spice notes. I’d reach for a Knob Creek Rye, Whistle Pig Rye, or the Old Forester Rye 100 proof.
From the Fridge: The Walking Stick has some bite to it, especially in the retro so grab a Barq root beer, or Dr. Pepper for this one.
Abbina Pairing: The perfect Abbina to pair with the Walking Stick has to be the Vinnie. The jerk spice and creaminess of the Vinnie would complement the spice and fullness of this Lancero.
