The TAA Lost Angel 2022 by Crowned Heads

      Lately I have been taking a look at a good bit of Crowned Head’s offerings. The reason is simple, I haven’t had one yet that missed the mark for me. You may be asking, “What is the TAA?” The TAA is the Tobacconists’ Association of America. It was founded in 1968 by 7 brick and mortar tobacconists as a chance to hang out and bounce ideas off of each other. To some extent, it still exists in that space somewhat today. The TAA seeks responsibly practicing tobacconists as members to gather in numbers to strengthen numbers in buying from manufacturers. Every year, there are multitude of exclusive TAA releases by some of the biggest players in the cigar scene in which a minimum of .50 per cigar goes towards the TAA’s operation expenses.

The Lost Angel TAA 2022 is a beautiful 5 inch x 52 RG toro. It is the second version of the “Lost Angel” series, which was preceded by the “Angel’s Anvil” series for TAA from 2014-2019. Tabacalera Pichardo I’m Esteli, Nicaragua did the rolling duties for this cigar. If you like multiple cigar bands, this is a cigar for you. 3 bands cover a pretty Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. A Mexican San Andres binder covers fillers from both the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. A worldly cigar indeed!

The Lost Angel 2022 was an joy to smoke. Construction of the cigar was good, however ashes would continuously fall in 1/4”-1/2” clumps. No big deal to me, since the flavor of this cigar was spot on. I would say this lies medium- full in body. Bold and balanced. Well rounded and complex. In my opinion this cigar provides as good of a smoking experience as cigars that are highly sought after, like all of the varieties of Opus. Earth, Cocoa, leather, and smooth pepper provided a well rounded profile. This may be my favorite experience from Crowned Heads to date.

I would highly recommend procuring a box of these, if you can find one! Only 1,000 boxes were made for TAA retailers across the country. Kudos to Jon Huber and company.
