APPEARANCE & CONSTRUCTION:   Good

The MF cigar is the darker of the two and it's a nice dark chocolate brown.  It has a good oily sheen, nice mottling and a hint of tooth.  The veins are a little lighter than the rest of the leaf providing some accents, but they're all thin and smooth.  The seams are super tight and the cap is perfect. The primary band is the same on each cigar while the secondary band is how you can identify which one it is.  The MF cigar has a gold band with black lettering that says "para Tatuaje." The only thing I don't love is the orange foot band as it feels out of place.  But overall, a beautifully rolled cigar.

DRAW & BURN:   Good / Good

While the head of the cigar has a different feel, the draw is perfect.  The burn starts with a little bit of wave but is well controlled.  The ash is a medium gray that's littered with tiny oil crystals.  The ash doesn't hold very long, falling just after the first inch.  The burn is still uneven, but staying controlled enough to not need a correction in the second third.  It finally evens out around the midway point, but it never gets razor sharp flat.

FLAVOR PROFILE:   Excellent

Immediate cinnamon and pepper hit the tongue on the first draw.  Spice is a funny thing.  Sometimes it's cinnamon, sometimes it's pepper, sometimes it's delicious and other times it's just a harsh irritant.  This is delicious.  I'm getting a lot of sweet and savory and I'm immediately thinking about Pad Thai.  There's something about this combo that tastes like the sauce.  It's spicy, sweet, salty and a hair sour, all while being very savory but it's delightful.  Then I start to pick up cocoa, earth and charred oak but they're behind the sweet and savory spice that's up front.  There's a nice creaminess to the finish, but it's not a super creamy cigar.  It's just right where it's avoiding any harshness with all the spice.

With the second third, the earthiness increases while the sweet and spice pull back a bit.  The cocoa flavors accentuate it beautifully.  The spice recedes at times, but it's always present and comes back strong on the reprise.  That "Pepin spice" is here for those that love spicy blends, but it's just below flat out . I'm also getting some nuttiness now too, and you know how Pad Thai has peanuts in it.  So it feels very fitting.

Getting into the final third doesn't bring any major changes, but it's either my palate getting worn out or the cigar pulls back on intensity as it feels a bit flatter than the first two thirds.  Still very good, it's just lacking the robustness and wow factor.  The last inch however really pulls back on the Pad Thai type flavors and ends heavy on the earth and charred wood, then I get one last blast of spice and the great flavors right at the end.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE:   Excellent

This is a truly fantastic blend and one of the best that I've had from My Father.  With the size you need to be ready for a good time investment, but it's a absolutely worth it.  I wish these were half the price however because $60 is a super steep cost of entry.   If this was a standalone release and $25 to $30 per, it'd absolutely worth it and even box worthy.  But at its current price, this is a hell of a treat
