The Davidoff Escurio Gran Perfecto

The Davidoff Escurio Gran Perfecto

The Davidoff Escurio Gran Perfecto

The Black Banded series of smokes from Davidoff signify the Brand’s efforts to think outside of the box. Tobaccos from different parts of the world are sourced to provide a unique experience in these blends. The Escurio blend’s unique tobaccos hail from Brazil- they are present in both the binder and make up a portion on the filler blend. My previous experiences with Brazilian tobacco haven’t been the best- they have been full flavored, to say the least. That being said I was hesitant to pick up a box. I made the purchase in good faith that Davidoff would make a quality, balanced smoke. It delivered.

The Escurio Gran Perfecto is a gorgeous figurado with a tapered head. The middle body of the cigar expands out to 60 RG, then constricts back to 50RG at the foot of the cigar. The cigar measures 5 inches in length. Absolutely love the craftsmanship and draw selection capability of this vitola. The Ecuadorian Habano wrapper is flawless. Construction was absolutely perfect.

The blend is medium to medium full in body and strength. Complex, balanced, and unique. A unique sweetness accompanied a beautiful profile. Notes of salt, cream, liquorice, leather, wood, and light pepper come and go throughout the 1 hour smoke time. The Brazilian tobaccos give a great change of pace.

If you are a Davidoff fan and are looking for a different experience with the brand. I highly recommend the Escurio blend. The Gran Perfecto is the only vitola I have tried out of the line but I’m encouraged to pick up other vitolas as well. One can expect to pay 200-250$ on the American market for a box of 12 perfectos.
